The needs are overwhelming in the Dominican Republic trash dump community in Santiago.  Basic necessities such as food, water, shelter and clothing are scarce.   Children and their families often spend dawn to dusk scavaging in the trash dump to collect any items that may be of value in hopes of being able to afford a meal for the day.

Ninos con una Esperanza, or "Kids with a Hope," is a ministry that is rescuing children from this very dump community.  This ministry employs a Christian School that educates and leads the children in the discipleship process, and gives them a fighting chance at a life outside of the dangers of the trash dump.  Without this ministry, the children living in this community would fall hopelessly behind in their education and would have little to no chance of ever escaping the vicious poverty-driven cycle of working and living in the trash dump.
